Buner Privacy Policy

Buner is your personal gemstone collection companion, built to help you document, compare, and manage your gem collection seamlessly. This privacy policy explains how we handle, store, and protect the information you provide when using our app, including all features for macro gem photo capture, 4C parameter logging, multi-light comparison, and collection analytics.

We prioritize your ownership and control of your personal collection data above all else, and we design our systems to minimize access to your private information wherever possible.

🔍 What Information We Collect

User-Submitted Collection Content: All content you voluntarily upload or input into Buner is owned exclusively by you. This includes: macro gem photos captured via your camera or imported from your gallery, 4C parameter records (carat, clarity, cut, color), gem type, origin, purchase details, personal notes, and multi-light mode comparison images you save.
Anonymous App Usage Data: We collect non-identifiable usage statistics to improve Buner's features, such as frequency of use of specific light mode comparison tools, search and filter preferences, and dashboard feature engagement. This data is never linked to your personal identity or your specific collection content.
Device Permission Data: We request access to your camera (to capture macro gem photos directly in the app) and local storage (to save your collection data and photos to your device) only when you explicitly grant these permissions. You may revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings.

⚙️ How We Use Your Information

Core Functionality Delivery: We use your collection data only to power Buner's features: storing your gem records, enabling interactive multi-light mode comparison, powering search and filter functions, generating your personal collection dashboard, and building your gem appreciation archive.
Product Improvement: Anonymous usage data is used to prioritize feature updates, fix bugs, and optimize existing tools. For example, if we find most users frequently use the UV light comparison mode, we will prioritize improving the accuracy of that feature in future updates.
No Unrelated Use: We will never scan, analyze, or use your personal gem collection content for targeted advertising, product recommendations, or any other purpose unrelated to the core functionality of Buner. We will never access your collection content for internal review unless explicitly requested by you for customer support purposes.

🔒 Data Storage & Security

By default, all of your collection data is stored locally on your personal device. We do not transmit, store, or have access to your gem records, photos, or purchase details on our servers unless you explicitly opt in to our optional cloud sync service.

If you choose to enable cloud sync to back up your collection across devices, your data is protected with end-to-end encryption. This means only you have the encryption key to access your content, and Buner staff and service providers cannot view, read, or share your encrypted collection data.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect all stored data, including regular security audits, encryption of data in transit, and strict access controls for all internal systems. We retain your cloud data only for as long as you maintain an active account, or until you request deletion.

🤝 Your Rights & Controls

Access & Edit: You may view, edit, update, or delete any individual gem entry, photo, or parameter record directly within the Buner app at any time.
Data Export: You may export your full collection archive, including all parameter records, photos, and notes, as a compressed file at any time, for storage on your personal devices or third-party storage services of your choice.
Permanent Deletion: If you use cloud sync, you may request permanent deletion of all your cloud-stored data at any time. All deletion requests are processed within 7 business days, with no residual copies of your data retained on our systems.
Permission Controls: You may adjust or revoke camera, storage, and any other permissions granted to Buner via your device operating system settings at any time, without impacting your ability to use core app features that do not require those permissions.

🤝 Third-Party Data Sharing

We will never sell, rent, or share your personal identifiable information or collection content with third parties for marketing, advertising, or commercial purposes.

We only share limited, non-identifiable data with trusted service providers that are required to operate Buner, such as cloud infrastructure providers for optional sync services. All third-party service providers are bound by strict privacy obligations, and are prohibited from accessing or using your encrypted data for any purpose other than providing the requested services to us.

📝 Policy Updates

We may update this privacy policy periodically to reflect changes to our features or operational practices. We will notify all users of material changes via in-app notification at least 30 days before the updated policy takes effect. Your continued use of Buner after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you may export your full collection and discontinue use of the app at any time.
